Bribie, Brisbane and other Bs.

On Sunday, I wandered over to Glasshouse Mountains.

I was feeling so fatigued, I felt hungover. I think it was a sugar comedown and also an illness setting in, but I didn’t feel fit to be driving.

Glasshouse Mountains were beautiful.

Just what the doctor ordered.

Peace, serenity and beautiful landscape that stretches on yonder.

I spent a bit of time here recuperating and taking in natures energy.

I ended up in Beachmere for the evening, it was a cute little town! The caravan park was across from a venue and I could hear the live music playing.

Win!

The next day, I went for a drive. I’d heard of Sandstone Point (live music venue) but didn’t realize it was so close to Bribie Island.

I stopped at a little farm shop and got some fruit. Pink dragonfruit! winning.

It was a place I had heard of, but don’t know anything about. I’m not really familiar with South East Queensland. Do you need a ticket to get over? Is there a fee or do you just… drive?

I just crossed the bridge.

Bribie was so beautiful. I found the esplanade and went for a swim, it was really lovely.

I went for a little drive around the island – Bribie is definitely a place I could see myself living.

The other side of the island was more of a surf beach (not my vibe haha) but still beautiful.

My car decided to go flat, but luckily there were some girls coming back from the beach who helped me jump start.

It sounds like it took me about 10 days before I started leaving the car doors open and doing other battery draining behaviors again.

The jump leads now live behind the drivers seat.

We’re picking the best places to get a flat battery.

I found my next place to stay in my Camps book – I was really excited because usually I’m lazy and look on google or wikimaps.

I stayed at Wescloud Farm Stay just out of Brisbane.

Getting ideas for my future property

I forgot to mention – I had been feeling a tickle in my throat coming on for a few days/before the festival and my cheeky swim turned it into a full blown cold.

No regrets, because I hadn’t swam since Airlie and I was petulant.

The farmstay was the perfect place for rest and recovery. I was in the depth of the dizziness and had two quiet days in.

There was a foal on the farm – 4 days old!

A BABAY!

I had initially planned to visit Brisbane on the second day, but I woke up feeling pretty shit and I’m glad I stayed in.

I had a little movie night on the first night – finally finished the Jack Irish movies and decided I really need to stock up on snacks.

Co-Z

I went to the shop yesterday and I know I get grumpy and want snacks, but when I’m standing in the aisles I just can’t bring myself to buy snacks. It doesn’t help that I felt I was going to vomit, but I was really struggling with the knowledge that I will get hangry at some stage and this determination to not buy junk food.

It’s like I stand on this moral high-ground in public (people don’t care what you buy – have you seen everyone else’s trolleys?!) but it comes back and bites me when I’m alone.

How could I resist an afternoon nap?

Yesterday I started my morning with a coffee-

-Oh wait, I started my morning with a (all together now!) flat battery. Lovely surprise for she who wants to get up and go early.

My campsite neighbor heard the cry of my dead engine and brought his jump pack over. I think I need to invest in one of those.

So, then I went in search of coffee to cut through the mental fog and started my expedition into Brisbane.

I must say, Brisbane drivers aren’t as cutthroat as Sunny Coast drivers. I toddled along and the jimbo actually got to 100km/h (hehe) I swear when people aren’t tailgating me, it actually goes faster. Some weird physics.

I had two things on my mind – The Green Edge and Vega.

I went to The Green Edge – stocked up on choccies (may or may not have eaten them all) and mock meat, which is random for me but I’ve not been real impressed with my diet lately so at least that’s an obvious source of protein.

I drove through the city – cute – everyone is going slow, so I fit right in. So my vibe.

But I’m not really a city girl, so I headed up to the mountain.

On my way back I stumbled upon the Planetarium! The stars have aligned.

Unfortunately there were no night sky tours on, but I enjoyed looking around the Planetarium and I was lucky to have an astronomer answer some of my constellation questions.

Surreal

So much about space/galaxy/universe has come to me from my visit to the planetarium, I really want to explore it but I need to find thought cohesion first.

Incredible, how something can be scientifically proven – these are the planets. But the metaphysical effect is so strong. I’m feeling a dissonance between the tangible and intangible.

Maria – origin Mare – of the Sea. Fitting really. Next time someone asks what the origin of my name is, I’m referencing this. No, it’s not Italian.

I was wondering how I would fill my time in Brisbane – I don’t know anything about the place and don’t really want to be exploring on foot.. I only like doing that in Melbourne where I feel safe and comfortable.

But the mountain had everything I needed and I’ve been enjoying driving about getting a feel for the place.

My friends’ band is playing tonight – I’m super excited. and I need to go to Vega.

Then I think I’ll be off to the next place.

xx
