Agnes Water / 1770 and Woodgate Beach

I’ve been dreaming of this place for 8 years and to be honest, I was a bit disappointed. It is beautiful don’t get me wrong. But there isn’t a lot to do there… For a single woman on a budget…

I had this idea that I would stay at the backpackers for a few nights and really get a feel for the place, but that was with this presumption it was more like Byron Bay and less like Beauty Point.

I haven’t even come across many backpackers. Not like what I was expecting. Gosh darn it, here we go with those high expectations again.

There’s no denying this place is beautiful

As I’m finding as I head further south, the accommodation options become dire. There was a beach campsite which looked super crowded, charging $60 per night. Even the backpackers – I would honestly rather have a decent night sleep in my comfortable bed in the car, than be woken up prematurely by roommates.

I booked myself into an Eco Camp, which was a bit further out of town than I would have liked, but beggars can’t be choosers.

The Eco camp was really beautiful. Absolutely stunning.

Set high up on the mountain, there were vast views of rolling hills and the town of 1770. I set my hammock up and had a really peaceful afternoon and evening reading my book and immersing myself in the tranquility.

I watched the sunset from my bed.

In the morning, I went for a swim. This place blew my mind.

Check out that pool!

Next stop was Bundy.

I was thinking about doing the Bundaberg Rum factory tour – but considering I don’t drink and I’m on my own, it seemed a bit silly.

Bundy was a bit of a random town. I drove through but couldn’t really make heads or tails of it. I stopped by the op shop and picked up Bridget Jones’ Diary (I finished Love and Virtue).

I jumped back in the car and headed for Hervey Bay, but ended up pulling into Woodgate Beach for the night. I could feel myself losing grip with reality from concentrating and I was starting to scare myself.

I still struggle to identify my hunger signals when I don’t have a blatant stomach grumbling. Feeling lethargic, grumpy and low energy are usually signs I should eat, but they are very easy to dismiss.

My neighbours at the campsite were really lovely and had two cute dachshunds. Naturally, now I’m wondering if I need to adopt a dachshund.

Sausages for dinner????

In the evening, we had a thunderstorm.

Lightning, hail and winds of 90km/h were predicted. I woke up as the storm was rolling in and struggled to get back to sleep. It didn’t rain to heavily though.

In the morning, I wandered down to the beach.. It’s a beautiful town but very small. My kind of place.

Next stop…..

Sunshine Coast!

Finally.

I arrived in Noosa around school pick up time and passed signs for a lookout, so I headed there to recalibrate.

The weather hasn’t been great, which is a bit spirit diminishing, however it gives me the opportunity to recuperate.

So long as I can find somewhere to sleep tonight.

The backpackers I stayed at last night was gorgeous and they had incense burning.
