Gladstone & Tannum Sands

I finally cruised on down to Gladdy.

To be honest with you, heading into these unchartered territories has had me feeling a bit strange.. Country Bumpkin towns, woman alone…

With my budget and my solitude firmly in tact, I am struggling to find reasons to stay in a town for longer than the time it takes to drive around and get a feel for the place.

I pulled up at this lovely park and charged my computer, had a feed and read my book.

Free power outlets in Gladstone FTW

I drove around for a bit and was actually really impressed with Gladstone. It’s the perfect sized town for me and it’s very aesthetically pleasing.

I decided to venture on and ended up in Tannum Sands.

I had a strange de ja vu moment, because I actually drove down to Tannum Sands while I was in Rockhampton in May. Seems pretty crazy considering how long it seemed to take me to get there this trip. Buuuut that’s me. Determined AF. When I’m not living on the road.

I pondered on completing the trip and driving down to Agnes Water, but my intuition (and my body) told me to stay the night.

Lucky for me, there was a caravan park just across the road from where I was parked.

I set up shop, went for a swim and read my book.

There were peacocks in the park and one was wandering around my camp site. While it wasn’t a male, it was still quite beautiful.

I didn’t realize I was at the Cataract Gorge

In the morning, I went for a walk down the Esplanade and explored the area. Inspiration to exercise doesn’t strike often, but natural dopamine is great hey?! Don’t need coffee after that.

I ventured off again, with my sights on Agnes Water/1770.

Turned off to go to Turkey Beach with <50km worth of fuel. Didn’t think about whether Turkey Beach had a fuel stop. Living on the edge over here.
