Decided to take a different direction

There has been a major development no, I’m not pregnant and no I’ve not found a job I’ve swapped the wheels for waves and moved onto a yacht.

What’s my biggest grievance about travelling alone…?
The beautiful moments lose value when you’re alone.

When I was in the Sunny Coast last year, I met a guy who lives on his Catamaran and he offered to take me and my friends out when I’m next up that way. Not that I have any friends
Excited to take him up on the offer, I got in touch when I arrived on the mainland and it turned out he was in Goldy doing some work on the boat. (There’s a big Boatworks in Gold Coast).

We caught up and went out for a cruise and the rest, as they say, is history.

We both have nowhere to be and we’re gonna sail up north.

He has had the Cat a couple of years but hasn’t been out exploring much – similar situation to me, where it’s boring on your own – there are 3 bedrooms and 2 toilets on board, a perfect storm.

It’s always been a secret dream of mine to live on a sailboat – I grew up around the water and have always felt at ease around water- but the reality of the perils of the sea always scare me out of my daydreams.
You might remember a couple of years ago I took a sailing course, but the dinghy capsized and it scared the shit out of me. My nervous system had been on alert the whole time we were on the water and getting thrown into the sea set me off.
I wrote the sailing fantasy off.

Now I have the opportunity to (literally) learn the ropes, without pressure or expectation.

My fears are qualmed because this isn’t a hobby boat, it’s a functional liveaboard. Any issues are addressed as they come up, so all we need to do is stock up on food for the journey (and add some feminine touches to the decor). It’s fully off grid, makes it’s own power and even it’s own water. We are self sufficient.

I would liken the boat to my car – it’s ready to go.

I am so excited for this brand new chapter in my life – a complete 180 but still living alternatively and seizing what life has to offer.

I finally get to have both – companionship without compromising my lifestyle.

So I’ll still be documenting my travels… just from a different angle 😉

What an inspiring shift! Trading wheels for waves sounds like the dream so many of us secretly have but never pursue. Love how you’re embracing this new chapter with openness and honesty—especially about the fears and freedom that come with it. Excited to follow your journey from the sea!
